1983 San Diego Supercross

As we gear up for the 2013 season of Supercross, let’s take a trip down memory lane and watch the intense 1983 San Diego Supercross race, won by the then 16 year old Ron Lechien on a stock Yamaha YZ250. Rick “Too Hip” Johnson goes all out for a 2nd place finish due to Jeff Ward crashing out late in the race. David Bailey moved his way up onto the final podium spot taking 3rd.

What’s your favorite part of this race?

a. A 16 year old winning on a stock bike in a field of factory machines.

b. The announcer that was out of his element.

c. The sweet no footer over the finish line jump.
