For Sale: 1975 Yamaha MX400B
1975 Yamaha MX400B for sale
Rare one-year bike was stored for ten+ years before I bought it four years ago. I turned it into an ice bike because its engine is torquey for a 2 stroke. I have ridden it a total of 20 minutes-the ice has been that bad. After my last ride I decided to sell it for the simple reason at 83, I can’t start the bike, I am too weak and have short legs.
The MXB is in excellent condition. The engine is in great shape and runs perfectly. 1st over piston, new rod, new crank main bearings, new gaskets, ignition parts and seals. The aluminum tank is nice-no dents. It has original side covers and the original pipe with a skyway muffler, which purists want. It has brand new Milleville; MX tires; 21 front (studs removed) and 120/100-18 rear.
In 1975, this was the fastest big bore on loose tracks. It is now set up for vintage motocross. I cut down the rear seat foam. I have installed two Thunder Products carburetor devices, which makes this bike faster than all other stock MX400Bs-throughout the rev range. Here’s something you’ll like for tighter cornering. I had the forks de-raked from original 31 degrees. That will give you a turning advantage over other MXers of the period. For giggles, I had the head tapped for a compression release. You can use it as a kill switch, a starting assist or an extra brake.
The air box is missing so you have to use my dual stage Uni-filter. I suggest you inspect fork internals and rear shock before racing. I didn’t do that because flat ground riding doesn’t tax the suspension systems. The rear rim is dented. Use as is or fix. Here’s a fun thought for you. The price includes free freight to your town. Yep free freight-$3850 in lower 48. If you pick up, I can reduce that! Thanks Phil Little, Mound, MN. Phil Little Racing.com. 952-607-6063
