Vintage Yamaha MX Bikes

In 1955 Yamaha began producing motorcycles. They began with simple and inexpensive bikes, but has since grown into a huge motorcycle powerhouse, boasting some of the best motocross bikes on the market. They rank second only to Honda as leader in Japanese manufacturers. In 1960 Yamaha began selling their motorcycles in the U.S.A. In 1968 the DT-1 Enduro was introduced, possibly the worlds first dual-purpose motorcycle. It was a 250cc two stroke and it made a huge impact on the North American off road scene.

Yamaha broke new ground again in 1975 with the introduction of the commonly known YZ250. Another two stroke light weight bike, but it featured a single rear end shock. In 1981 the YZ125 was introduced and was the first liquid cooled yamaga motocross bike. In 1998 yamaha made the first mass produced 4 stroke motocrosser, the yz400f.
